Westsun Energy, established in 2012, has been a leader in the renewable energy sector. With a management team accredited in the design and installation of both on- and off-grid solar power systems, we have built a reputation for excellence. From our beginnings in the contracting space to becoming a full-service EPCM provider for renewable energy projects, Westsun Energy is committed to a clear path forward, delivering on our vision with safety and sustainability at the core of everything we do.
The Labor Government wants Australia to be 82% powered by renewable energy in just eight years. Australia is already stretched for workers, and giving new ones the skills they will need takes time. Our research estimates the renewable energy transition will need up to 30,000 workers in coming years to build enough solar farms, wind farms, batteries, transmission lines and pumped hydro storage to transform our energy system. Most of these jobs will be in regional areas. With the relationships we have formed, our extensive OH&S and our hard work over the past 11 years training and building our business to the level it is today, we couldn’t be more excited for what the future has for us.
In the coming decades, Australia will invest around A$66 billion in large-scale renewables and $27 billion in rooftop solar and battery storage. This creates openings for industry development, like the $7.4 billion market opportunity for an integrated battery supply chain and manufacturing, which builds on our strengths, such as wind towers. If we get this right, we can create new manufacturing and supply chain jobs and reverse the long drift of these jobs overseas. But if we get it wrong, skill shortages could derail the vision of a new energy system by 2030.
We are very excited to have been awarded the Innovation Award at the 2023 NECA WA awards night. The award was based on our efforts on the Project Symphony VPP project in Western Australia. Working alongside energy operators and retailers we designed, constructed and handed over Perth’s first Virtual Power Plant. We are super proud of our team and look forward to showcasing our upcoming projects in 2023 and beyond.

The Western Australian energy market is in a state of change and development. The speed at which residential solar power systems have rolled out has provided huge opportunities but also created an environment for businesses to come and go, leaving many customers with no support. A core value of Westsun Energy is to supply and install a solar panel system that best fits a customer. We are a customer-based company and know that a quality product for a reasonable price will win out in the end.
We are open about being successful and not driven to sell products for the cheapest price. We intend to stand behind the products we sell and not only support warranties but continue to engage with our customers for years to come. For many of our customers, purchasing a solar system is a large investment, and we pride ourselves on offering face-to-face sales support when needed and a transparent sales process.
Internally, Westsun Energy is passionate about our motto of “success through the success of others”, and we strive to up-skill all of our employees. Westsun Energy constantly helps train new electrical apprentices and, over the years has produced some of the best renewable energy electricians in the state.
