Project Overview
Client: ADCO Builders & Public Transport Authority (PTA)
Project Size: 416kW Solar PV + 482kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
Project Type: Government Infrastructure | Rail Manufacturing & Maintenance Facility
Location: Bellevue, Western Australia
Westsun Energy partnered with ADCO Builders to deliver a commercial solar and battery energy storage solution for the Public Transport Authority (PTA) Bellevue Railcar Facility.
Managed by Alstom, the multi-million-dollar, 180-metre-long manufacturing and maintenance depot is the birthplace of Perth’s locally built C-series passenger trains, supporting the production and maintenance of Western Australia’s next generation of electric and diesel passenger railcars.
Designed to support the state’s future public transport network, the facility required a reliable renewable energy solution that aligned with its long-term sustainability objectives.
Challenges
→ Large-Scale Facility: Designing a solar and battery system suited to a major railcar manufacturing and maintenance depot.
→ System Integration: Coordinating 416kW of solar generation with 482kWh of battery storage.
→ Complex Project Delivery: Completing works as part of a large, multi-stakeholder infrastructure project.
→ Long-Term Reliability: Selecting proven commercial-grade equipment suited to demanding operational conditions.
Solution
Westsun Energy engineered and installed a high-performance commercial solar and battery system featuring:
→ 640 × Jinko Solar Tiger Neo III Panels: High-efficiency N-Type modules selected to maximise rooftop energy generation.
→ 4 × Fronius Tauro ECO 100-3-D 100,000W Inverters: Commercial-grade inverter technology designed for reliable power conversion, intelligent monitoring, and efficient system performance.
→ 2 × EVO Power FLEX 100kW / 241kWh Batteries: Providing a combined 482kWh of battery storage to improve onsite energy utilisation.
→ Clenergy PV-ezRack Klip-Lok Mounting Kit: A secure commercial mounting solution suited to the facility’s roof profile.
System design focused on:
→ Maximising Solar Generation: Delivering strong onsite renewable energy production across the facility’s available rooftop space.
→ Energy Storage Integration: Storing excess solar energy for use when operational demand requires it.
→ Reliable Performance: Using trusted commercial components engineered for long-term operation.
→ Operational Efficiency: Supporting reduced grid reliance and improved energy performance across the facility.
